Laid Back White Christmas 2007

Christmas this year was probably the most laid back I can recall. In past years' we have done Christmas eve at my inlaws, and then christmas morning at some family friends, then my mothers place and finally my fathers. notice that I didn't say at our place. We had too many places to go so on years like that, we actually got started driving early in the morning since

This year, my father and his wife decided it had been too much to hold a family Christmas gathering at their place. Her grandkids would not be able to make it that day anyway, so they decided to pass on hosting the traditional gathering. Unfortunately a request from them came out about 2 weeks before Christmas, and our plans were already too far along to be able to host it at our place. Not to mention that the stairs and parking situation would have been a bit of a problem for some of the guests.

Fortunately my uncle was able to host a gathering at his place on New Years day. This worked out very nice.

The result was however that our Christmas day turned out very laid back. After visiting my brother-in-law on Christmas eve, we drove home, and had a nice leisurely Christmas morning at our place. The first time that has ever happened. Around noon, we went down to our family friends who had moved down near Gig Harbor, a good 90+ minute drive. And low and behold, when we get there, there is snow on the ground. That's right, a White Christmas.

The worst part was the concern we would have to chain up to get back out of their place. But that never happened, by the early evening, the snow had turned to rain, and was completely gone by the next morning.
